Volvo Buses India delivers sleeping vehicles to Kerala SRTC

Volvo Buses India, part of VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), has launched its first fully built sleeping car. The 15-meter-long sleeping car was developed on the Volvo B11R chassis. The first eight coaches will be delivered to the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation.

The sleeper platform can also be applied to the Volvo B8R range, which includes 12m and 13.5m chassis.

The Volvo B11R is designed to perform at its best in demanding conditions. Noteworthy are, among other things, the 12-speed I-Shift gearbox of the chassis, electronically controlled air suspension and electronic braking systems.

The coach offers space for 39 beds and offers 12.5 cubic meters of personal luggage space. The fully sealed saloon area features fire retardant fabrics, plywood, cushions and ABS finishes that give a premium feel while ensuring the highest levels of safety.

To maximize durability, the sleeper body was built on a high-strength carbon steel structure that has been coated with anti-corrosion paint. The coach fully complies with all relevant automotive standards and norms.

On motorways, the sleeping car provides comfortable and spacious sleeping places with headrests for the passengers as well as a special small luggage compartment, mobile chargers and a personal reading lamp. A curtain is also provided between adjacent berths.
