Fisher-Titus Sleep Center opens new location, celebrates 10-year anniversary – Morning Journal

The Fisher-Titus Sleep Center has moved from its location on Executive Drive to Medical Park 2 on the Fisher-Titus Campus, according to a news release.

The new address is 282 Benedict Ave., Suite C, Norwalk.

The newly renovated space, which has five sleep study rooms, offers modern furnishings in each room including televisions, recliners and new and a dedicated pediatric sleep room with attached restroom opening later this spring, the release said.

Additionally, there are two exam rooms also included in the new suite meaning that sleep clinic appointments and sleep are now located in one convenient location for patients.

The Sleep Center also is celebrating its 10-year this month.

Opened in 2012, the Fisher-Titus Sleep Center diagnoses and treats a variety of sleep disorders including sleep apnea, insomnia, narcolepsy and more.

The Sleep Center is overseen by Dr. Basem Haddad, a pulmonologist with Fisher-Titus Pulmonary Medicine and medical director of the Sleep Center and provides services for adults and children ages three and older.

To diagnose a potential sleep disorder, a sleep study (also known as polysomnography) is performed during a patient’s normal sleeping hours.

Small metal discs (electrodes) are place on the scalp, face, chest and legs to monitor the brain, breathing, and muscle movements during sleep.

Treatment varies for each condition but can include positive airway pressure (PAP or CPAP) which is less invasive and costly than surgery and is considered the “gold standard” treatment of sleep apnea, one of the most common sleep disorders, the release said.

The Fisher-Titus Sleep Center PAP NAP program provides patients with one-on-one PAP treatment education from qualified technologists.

In 2021, the Fisher-Titus Sleep Center performed 611 sleep and saw 346 patients in the sleep clinic.
